Sunrise Service for Peace
St. Mary's Polish Church in Whitney Pier will host a short sunrise service for peace and release of doves at 6:20 in the morning on Monday, September 1. Everyone is warmly welcome. Free family picnic for everyone on Labour Day from 12-2 at Open Hearth Park. Hosted by Cape Breton District Labour Council. Everyone is welcome to a free Polish Cultural Open House at the Polish Village Hall in Whitney Pier (Victoria Road at Jamieson Street). It will be on Saturday, September 13, from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be children's activities. See the new Children's Mini-Museum. This year's featured artist for Nova Scotia Polish Heritage Month -- the choir of St. Mary's Polish Church -- will be honoured. There will be refreshments and there will be some food to sample.

Terry Fox Runs in the CBRM New Waterford The 45th annual Terry Fox Run/Walk takes place in New Waterford on Sunday, September 14th at the Francis MacKinnon Memorial Track on Eighth Street. Anytime between 2:00-4:00 pm participants can drop by to walk, run, jog, or bike at their leisure.
