We are sponsoring 4 events for Gaelic Awareness Month, May 2026 at St. Barra Church & Christmas Island Communities Centre at 47 Church Road, Christmas Island, NS. Saturday, May 2nd: Hannah Krebs teaches local Gaelic songs from 2-4pm. Sunday, May 3rd: "Celtic Spring Family Concert" featuring Local Talent and starting at 2pm. Saturday, May 16th: Connall MacKinnon teaches some more local Gaelic songs from 2-4pm. Saturday, May 30th: Angus MacLeod teaches the old way to compose Gaelic songs from 2-4pm.…

3rd Annual Wentworth Park Fishing Derby

May 16 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join in a family fun event at Wentworth Park Saturday May 16th/2026. The fishing derby is for children 15 and under and is organized by Cape Breton Island Wildlife association in Partnership with CBRM, NS Department of Inland Fisheries, Nova Scotia Federation of Anglers and Hunters, Unama ki Institute of Natural Resources and Department of Natural Resources. Prizes awarded for the largest fish. The event runs from 10 Am until 2PM. Registration is at the Byng Ave entrance.
