94.9 The Wave Community Pledge

The 94-9 The Wave Community Pledge wants to shine the light on Clifford Street Youth Centre.

They have launched Mobility Matters.  They are looking for a donation of, or towards getting mini-van or multi passenger vehicle.

Rationale; currently most of their kids do not have access to reliable transportation in and around CBRM. When fortunate enough to receive an ‘activity based’ donation we have to find a way to transport our kids to and from the event. { IE swimming, skating, library, volunteering for intergenerational events etc } or in this most recent example skiing. The fantastic folks at Ski Ben Eion have kindly arranged for 5 Tuesday evenings for ski and snow board lessons for up to 15 kids. First we have to arrange taxi’s, average $75.00 each way, and three vans is all kids attend…$450 each week to attend ‘free’ ski lessons! Five weeks of taxi’s $2250.00!

This is apart from the day to day needs to transport kids, volunteers and staff from each site as needed.
