A tractor trailer loaded with water will be unloaded at noon today at the Potlotek First Nation as it deals with dirty water coming out of taps.
Other Mi’kmaq communities got together with Crane Cove Seafoods and Big 8 to get 24 pallets of 4 litre water jugs from Stellarton and haul them to Potlotek.
The province is stepping up as well as Premier Stephen McNeil says a long term fix is needed. For now however, portable showers are being brought in. Local hotels and the park are also providing showers. Chief Wilbert Marshall says Health Canada has told them boiling the water just makes it worse, so reserve residents are being told not the use the water at all for anything.
