Treaty Day protests

Treaty Day celebrations drew about 500 people to Province House yesterday.

Mi’kmaq Grand Keptin Antle (Andrew) Denny spoke to the crowd about corporations allegedly threatening rivers and lakes that have sustained the Mi’kmaq for centuries.

The Alton gas project was on the minds of many.

Protesters were present with signs but stayed silent as a sign of respect for their elders.
