Cape Breton cheques

Cape Breton residents who lost their homes in the Thanksgiving Day flood are received cheques on the weekend.

The CBC reports that the Cape Breton Regional Municipality says owners of 29 homes which were designated as un-livable got cheques for some of their losses, but more money is expected to come from the province’s disaster financial assistance fund.

Many of the affected homeowners held insurance policies that didn’t cover flood damage.
