NS teachers update

Nova Scotia Education minister Karen Casey says the next move in the contract dispute with the teachers is up to the union.

Casey added that the government is no longer at the bargaining table after the union twice rejected tentative agreements in the last year.

She says she has to hold salaries for teachers to the government’s pattern for all public sector workers, a 3 per cent increase over the next four years.

She wouldn’t comment on outlawing any potential strike.
