Glace Bay meeting

Another big public meeting was held in Glace bay last night to answer questions about the flood. Hundreds turned out at the Fire Hall to ask questions about recovery efforts, insurance and compensation.  Mayor Cecil Clarke says 1,300 people have now registered as flood victims all over CBRM.

Clarke said one neighbourhood in the south end of Sydney may never recover.  He also said about 20 houses in the Royal Avenue and St. Peter’s Road area were under up to 12 feet of water, and may have to be leveled.  Clarke also said that area may be designated a no development zone with no buildings allowed in the future.
