Cape Breton flood helplines

Mayor Cecil Clarke says the city is now moving into the recovery phase after the flood. He and other officials were at a big meeting for victims at Centre 200 yesterday evening. There’ll be another meeting for victims this evening at the Glace Bay fire hall, according to the CBC.
Clarke says the provincial government will step into the role of managing and helping pay for the recovery and rebuild under the disaster financial assistance arrangement or DFAA.  It helps pay for repairs and damage.

The city’s Helpline will remain open 902-562-HELP (4357).  Almost a thousand people have registered as flood victims.  Red Cross, United Way, Salvation Army and other agencies will also continue operating.
