Proposed European Ban on Maritime Lobsters Defeated

The European Union has backed away from a threat to ban Lobsters from the Maritimes. Sweeden had pushed for the ban on Canadian lobsters after reports of live North American lobster being found in their coastal waters. A special European commission investigating Sweden’s request to have our lobster declared an invasive species in Europe has denied the request. The commission ruled their was a lack of strong scientific evidence to support the idea that North American lobster populations were taking hold in European waters.
