United Way

The Nova Scotia government has turned half a million dollars over to the United Way of Cape Breton so it can provide immediate emergency aid for people affected by last weekend’s massive rainfall.

Premier Stephen McNeil says the money will be used for food, clothing and lodging.

McNeil says the government is assessing how much more money will be needed and is asking for help under the federal national disaster relief program.
