Hockey Incident

The Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League says a Cape Breton player has been suspended for the rest of the season in connection with an on-ice incident that left an opposing player hospitalized with brain bleeds and swelling.

The league says on its website that Jordan Breen of the Glace Bay Junior Miners has been handed an indefinite suspension.

Police in New Glasgow are also investigating the incident Sunday that left 18-year-old Luke Spicer badly injured during a rough Junior B game between his Pictou County Scotians and the Junior Miners.

Spicer was released from hospital this week and his team says he’s improving but has a long road ahead of him and will not be returning to university until next year.
