Canada’s public safety minister says financial help will be provided as quickly as possible to flood-ravaged parts of Cape Breton.
Ralph Goodale says Nova Scotia has officially asked for federal national disaster assistance and that will be forthcoming.
He says the province has indicated a preliminary estimate of at least 10 million dollars in damages.
Goodale says the province will take inventory of the damage and Ottawa will process the claim “as rapidly as we can.”
