CBRM flooding

Premier Stephen McNeil says he couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the uprooted trees, washed-out roads; and other damage from the storm that pummelled Sydney and surrounding areas.

McNeil toured the area yesterday by air and on foot to see the damage first hand.  The Premier said he’s sure once the damage totals come in it will meet the threshhold of $3 million to get federal disaster assistance.  But he says the priority now is to restore basic human needs and help people deal with damage to their homes as soon as possible.

Many people have been told by their insurance companies already that their policies do not cover this type of flooding.
