The Cubs eliminated the Giants 6-5 to move on to the National League Championship Series.  They have to wait for their opponent to be decided.  The Dodgers stayed alive by beating Washington 6-5 and tying their series at two games each.

The Ramblers beat the Valley Wildcats 3-1 at the M-H-L showcase in Truro, and the Western Capitals got past the Tigers 4-3.

Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has told reporters that he’s taking things on a “day by day” basis as he recovers from a concussion suffered during practice.

The NHL’s regular season opens tonight with the Leafs in Ottawa and the Flames in Edmonton.
