Two Kentville Town Councillors Under Fire for Spending 3 Months Each Year in Florida

A pair of Kentville town councillors are being criticized for spending the winter months in Florida and attending council meetings via video conference. The CBC reports that for the past three years, councillors Bill Boyd and Mark Pearl have only been attending council meetings via skype for the months of January, February and March. A number of Kentville residents have questioned how councillors can adequately represent constituents and attend all the required committee meetings from Florida. Councillor Bill Boyd defended the practice to the CBC, saying he’s following the approved policy and always tends to any constituent who calls for help.
