Cape Breton forgery case

The trial on forgery charges of a Cape Breton Regional police officer heard from the accused yesterday.

Constable Wade Lavin acknowledged he set up an email account and used it to contact media outlets in 2015.  The Cape Breton Post says Lavin was on the local police union executive and sent the emails to media to express concerns over alleged misuse of police vehicles and credit cards by members of management.

Lavin admitted using the name of Staff Sargent Ken O’Neill to set up the email account but didn’t intend recipients to believe that the emails were being sent from O’Neill.
