Cape Breton labour day

Labour day celebrations were held at Open Hearth Park yesterday.

Carmie Erickson, president of the Cape Breton District Labour Council, told the Cape Breton Post the significance of Labour Day should never be forgotten, that the day was brought to you by the “blood, sweat and tears” of the labour movement.  She said the two main things labour generally is fighting for is a $15 minimum wage and fairness in contracts with governments, in particular; the Canada Post dispute.
