SUMMARY:Fundraising Pickle Sale
DESCRIPTION:Culinary students from Memorial High in Sydney Mines will be selling their own pickles are preserves at the school during parent/teacher on November 17th and 18th. Jellies\, Mustard Pickles\, Chow\, Beets and other tasty treats will be on sale for cash only. All proceeds will help support fundraising efforts for their trip to Culinary schools across the Maritime provinces.\nIf you can’t get out to support them\, visit www.rafflebox.ca/raffle/memorialhs to buy tickets on the monthly fundraiser they share with their Band Class colleagues. If\, in one month\, we could sell half of what some minor hockey associations sell in a week\, and could do that consistently 10 months a year\, our band and cooking trips would be paid for\, and we could likely pay tuition for all our students for a year of post-secondary education.\nWe’d settle for less but let’s shoot for that\, and hope for more. Please share the link\, and revisit it monthly \n

SUMMARY:iPhone Cameras & Kodak Brownies: A CBU Art Gallery Talk
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, Nov. 17 at 6:30 pm\nMcConnell Library (50 Falmouth St.\, Sydney) \n“You Press the Button\, We Do the Rest.”\nGeorge Eastman of Eastman Kodak Co. made photography accessible with the first release of the Kodak Brownie in 1900. No longer was the magic of photography restricted to the secrets of the dark room; anyone who had a Brownie could make a photographic image. Then in 2007\, the first ever iPhone would hit the market equipped with its own digital camera. How do these two seemingly different machines relate? \nJoin CBU Art Gallery’s Collections & Exhibition Technician\, Deanna Manolakos\, as she unpacks over 100 years of vernacular photography.\nNo registration required. \n
