SUMMARY:McConnell Library
DESCRIPTION:Natural History Series: Working Together to Study Sea Turtles in Atlantic Canada  \nWednesday Sept 20th\, 7 pm-9 pm\, McConnell Library\, 50 Falmouth St\, Sydney \nDid you know that there are four types of sea turtles found in the waters off Atlantic Canada? Come learn about the biology of these amazing animals\, including the enormous leatherback sea turtles. These animals travel tens of thousands of kilometres between our northern foraging waters and their tropical nesting beaches. Kayla Hamelin will tell the amazing story of the scientists and fishermen in Nova Scotia that work together to study and conserve these animals\, in collaboration with colleagues around the world. Find out how you can help us help sea turtles right here in Nova Scotia. \nKayla is the Assistant Director\, Conservation and Education at the Canadian Sea Turtle Network\, a Halifax-based environmental charity that works to study and conserve endangered sea turtles in Canadian waters and beyond. \nKayla will also make a presentation aimed at children and youth at the McConnell Library on Wed Sept 20th from 4 – 5 pm.  Parents are encouraged to bring their young turtle enthusiasts along! Presented by the Cape Breton Regional Library in partnership with the Cape Breton Naturalists Society and the Cape Breton Young Naturalists. \nEveryone welcome! \n
