Happy Birthday to the First Lighthouse in Canada, Louisbourg!

April 1st 1733 the first of four lighthouses was completed at the current site in Louisbourg by the French Military. This would be the first operational lighthouse in Canada, and the second oldest lighthouse in North America after the Boston Light which was built in 1716. It would remain operational until 1758 when the fortress of Louisbourg was destroyed by the British after a successful siege. It would later be reconstructed by the government of Nova Scotia in 1848 and has remained operational until this day! For some cool lighthouse information, be sure to check out this page here…
